With support from the SHAKTI Project, women organised themselves into an SHG, identified drinking water as a priority issue through Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), and collectively approached local authorities. After repeated follow-ups and advocacy efforts, the long-pending solar drinking water project was finally completed.
Today, women and children in the village have access to safe drinking water, reducing drudgery and improving health conditions. The success has inspired the group to address additional village development issues through collective action.
